Teaching Philosophy
I seek to actively engage students in the science of psychology. As much as possible
I have students do the real-world tasks of psychologists such as reading journal articles,
diagnosing cases, and evaluating theories. Although these activities can be challenging,
I believe in simultaneously setting high standards and providing students with the
support to meet those standards. During class I tend to be eclectic and use a mixture
of lecture, discussion, and activities. Outside of class I try to use the best practices
in the assessment of learning outcomes and scholarship of teaching.
