McKendree University Names Collins Golf Course General Manager

Lebanon, Ill. — Sally Collins, a resident of Kirkwood, Mo., is the new general manager and director of golf at Locust Hills Golf Course at McKendree University.

Collins was previously the director of golf, head golf professional and director of instruction at On Top of The World Communities, Inc. in Ocala, Fla. She was responsible for the overall operations of its 12,000 acre, three par 72, championship golf courses.

Collins has over 30 years of experience in the golf industry as a Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Class A Teaching and Club Professional, serving as the LPGA’s lead national evaluator, test site captain, and a national education and research advisory board member. She worked as the head golf professional and director of instruction at four golf courses and has been recognized as one of Golf Magazine’s Top Regional Teachers in 2005 and the LPGA Southeast Section Teacher of the Year in 2003.

In her new position, Collins is responsible for managing the daily activities of the 18-hole public golf course, clubhouse, merchandising and food and beverage operations.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to bring my golf management experience to McKendree University,” said Collins. “Our vision is to offer Lebanon residents and the McKendree community a challenging golf course, numerous golf instruction programs and a variety of social events. We want golfers and non-golfers alike to feel welcome at Locust Hills.”

McKendree University recently purchased the 111-acre Locust Hills Golf Course. The 18-hole public course and clubhouse is located at 1015 Belleville Street on the western edge of Lebanon. It lies partially adjacent to the McKendree West student apartment complex on College Road, which bisects the course. The acquisition nearly doubles the size of the 184-year-old campus, from 125 acres to 236.
