McKendree Bearcat Golf Tournament Set for June 21, 2013
Lebanon, Ill. — Summer may be a long way off but it is not too early to save the date
for McKendree University’s Second Annual Bearcat Golf Tournament, say its organizers.
The tournament will return to St. Clair Country Club in Belleville, Ill., on Friday,
June 21, 2013, with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
Proceeds will benefit the Department of Athletics and its 21 men’s and women’s intercollegiate
sports. The McKendree Bearcats are transitioning to NCAA Division II and currently
competing in their first season in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The inaugural
golf tournament on June 22 netted more than $70,000 for the athletics program.
Registration will open in early 2013 for the 18-hole, four-person scramble that will
include a continental breakfast, lunch, buffet dinner, auction and awards ceremony.
Sponsorship opportunities will be available.
“Our first tournament was a tremendous success and it sold out quickly,” said Kimberly
Mayden, associate vice president of development and tournament director. “We anticipate
that our 2013 tournament will sell out just as quickly. We encourage everyone to save
the date now and look forward to a day of golf at one of the area’s premier courses.”
