McKendree U. Speech Team Signs Standouts Farnam, North, Zickefoose
Lebanon, Ill. — The McKendree University speech team is getting two outstanding high
school speech competitors hailing from Benton, Ill. - Emeri Farnam and Briar North
- and one from Coal City, Ill., Hannah Zickefoose.
“Emeri, Briar and Hannah are total package students,” said Dr. Stephen Hagan, assistant
speech coach. “They are smart, talented and motivated. Their futures are bright and
I foresee a career of accolades both in competition and academics.”
Farnam, North and Zickefoose have had significant success at the high school level,
advancing to sectionals this past year. At regionals, Farnam took first place in humorous
interpretation and fourth place in informative speaking, while North took fourth place
in dramatic interpretation. Zickefoose took first in humorous interpretation.
