McKendree Campus Community Celebrates Academic Excellence on April 28

(LEBANON, Ill., May 3, 2022) – McKendree University students presented their research, creative talent and collaborative work at the ninth annual Academic Excellence Celebration on Thursday, April 28.

A total of 179 student presenters, supported by 25 faculty and staff sponsors, participated by discussing or exhibiting academic posters, projects and performances they have developed throughout the school year. Classes were not held so that students, faculty, staff members and guests could attend sessions featuring honors theses, capstone projects, research posters, an art show, honor society inductions and a performance at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts.

The full day of events included:

• 35 research posters in Holman Library

• 30 presentations in Piper Academic Center and 11 pre-recorded presentations

• A student art exhibit at the McKendree Gallery of Art

• A student ensemble concert at the Hett

• 11 honor society induction ceremonies in the afternoon and evening

The campus community capped off the event with a well-attended reception at 1828 Café on campus with Bogey the Bearcat making an appearance.
