A Celebration of Academic Excellence on April 26 at McKendree University

(LEBANON, Ill., April 9, 2018) — McKendree University’s fifth annual Academic Excellence Celebration on Thursday, April 26, will present the research, creativity and collaborative work of nearly 400 participating students.

The Academic Excellence Celebration gives students the opportunity to present, perform and exhibit the academic projects they have developed throughout the year. Classes are not held so that students, faculty, staff members and guests may attend sessions featuring capstone projects, research poster presentations, an art show, honor society inductions, and performances at the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts and the McKendree Gallery of Art.

The event includes the following:

 

  • 126 research posters in Holman Library and Ames Dining Hall, 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.

  • More than 50 presentations in Piper Academic Center, theHub, the Hett Choir Room, and Eisenmayer Hall, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Honors Convocation, recognizing graduating students for their academic accomplishments, the Hett, 1 p.m.

  • All-Student Art Show, theatre projects, and live music performed at the McKendree Gallery of Art in downtown Lebanon, 4 to 6 p.m.

  • 11 honor society induction ceremonies, including two new chapters at the university: Tau Sigma (transfer students) and Pi Mu Epsilon (mathematics).

  • Dance Ensemble performance at the Hett, 7:30 p.m.
