The Hett to Host Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra on Oct. 20
Benefit Concert will Support Radio Arts Foundation
(LEBANON, Ill., September 28, 2018) — The Hettenhausen Center for the Arts will host
the Belleville Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m., in a concert
to benefit the Radio Arts Foundation (RAF).
Joining host Jim Doyle, of RAF 107.3 FM, and the orchestra will be guest pianists
Ian Gindes, performing Gershwin’s “Rhapsody In Blue,” and Elena Ulyanova, performing
Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 2, Third Movement.” The program will also feature
light classical and pops favorites including Brahms’ “Hungarian Dance No. 5,” Leroy
Anderson’s “Blue Tango,” and medleys from “West Side Story,” “A Chorus Line,” “Les
Miserables” and “My Fair Lady.” Robert Hart Baker, BPO music director, will conduct.

The concert will benefit RAF’s efforts to expand its radio coverage and enable it
to reach more of the Metro East. “The Hett is proud to be a sponsor of this concert
and supports RAF’s efforts to bring classical music back to the airwaves in the Metro
East,” said Peter Palermo, director of the Hettenhausen Center at McKendree University
in Lebanon, Ill.
Radio Arts Foundation-Saint Louis was created in 2013 by people who believe a vibrant
art and culture community is essential to the region. Listeners may tune into 107.3
FM or 96.3 HD2 to enjoy programming spanning a variety of genres including orchestral,
chamber, jazz, blues, opera and symphonic music. The station can be live streamed
via the web or through the RAF-STL app, which is available on the iTunes store.
The Philharmonic Society of Belleville is a not-for-profit organization dedicated
to supporting arts in the community. Founded in 1866, it has been an integral part
of providing musical experience for musicians and music lovers. It is the second oldest
continuously operating orchestra in the U.S.
The Russel E. and Fern M. Hettenhausen Center for the Arts—“The Hett”—is Southern
