See McKendree’s New Sports Performance and Wrestling Centers

Ribbon Cutting and Open House on March 20

Lebanon, Ill. — Tour McKendree University’s new Sports Performance and Wrestling Centers at a grand opening from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 20. University President James Dennis, Director of Athletics Chuck Brueggemann, and Dean Oelze, developer of Lebanon Commons, will cut the ribbon at 4 p.m. to officially open the new facilities at 109 Perryman St.

The public is welcome. Healthy snacks and Gatorade will be served.

Located in the Lebanon Commons shopping center on the west side of town, the 7,500-square-foot facilities will enable Bearcat athletes to train for competition and receive high-level instruction in an optimal environment. Flooring made of recycled Nike athletic shoes provides comfort and safety in the weight training area. The Sports Performance Center also contains 2,400 square feet of artificial turf, the tallest squat racks made, over 19,000 pounds of free weights, and three sets of five to 100-pound dumbbells. A giant photo of McKendree student-athletes from every sport on campus extends across the back wall.

Banners from recent championship years hang in the Wrestling Center, where McKendree’s nationally ranked men’s and women’s teams will hold their practices and workouts.
