McKendree Launches New VOMO App to Manage Volunteer Service

(LEBANON, Ill., August 9, 2019) — McKendree University has implemented VOMO, a free mobile app in which students, faculty and staff member users can find volunteer opportunities, as well as log and track their service hours.

“McKendree University has a wide variety of charitable individuals who are passionate about improving the lives of others,” said Joshua Hughlett, program coordinator of the Lyn Huxford Center for Community Service (CCS) on campus. “This customized platform will serve as our volunteer hub, connecting our students, faculty and staff to a host of opportunities that are managed and rewarded. We all want to make a difference but sometimes we are unsure how to put that into action. The VOMO app can help you build your volunteer résumé.”

In three clicks, a user can view volunteer service opportunities not only within the university but also with nonprofit partners. VOMO users can earn incentives such as ebooks and gift certificates for meals and shopping.

Students, faculty and staff members recently received emails invitations to create their VOMO volunteer account, which allows users to search and sign up for opportunities both on campus and in local communities. Up to 100 volunteer opportunities are listed, including disaster relief projects and do-it-yourself ideas that one person or a group can do.
