Practicums

We feel that practicum experiences in the areas of community health and leadership are very valuable to you in gaining the skills of a bachelor prepared nurse. You will engage in a variety of learning opportunities in two practicum experiences in the RN to BSN program. We hope you find the practicum experiences assist you in gaining a strong foundation as a BSN prepared leader.

Scholarship

McKendree is proud to announce the Diana Joyce Doros Scholarship recognizing the critical role of nursing professionals in improving health outcomes for nurses without tuition reimbursement. The endowed scholarship fund makes available $5,000 awards divide over the duration of the program for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) or a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Population Health. The generous $750,000 endowed scholarship honors the life and legacy of the late Diana Joyce Doros. Please complete the scholarship application by July 15.

Tuition

Tuition for the online Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is $420 per credit hour. The only additional fees will be for textbooks and approx. $190 Certified Criminal Background/Drug Screen/Immunization Verification.

Program Tuition Discounts

Employer Reimbursement

1. Only the amount that will be paid by the employer can be deferred. Any remaining portion should be paid promptly by the student.

2. A letter from the employer stating that the employee (student) is eligible for tuition reimbursement will be required each semester and should be emailed to sfs@mckendree.edu before the start of the term.

3. The student should make every attempt possible to pay as they go. Payment is due by or before 30 days from the date grades are available. Please make note of these dates when registered for 8-week courses.

4. Checks sent directly to McKendree should be made payable to McKendree University with the student ID number on the memo line.

5. Registration for future terms is permitted if the student is current with deferred payment for the current term. Please direct questions to the Director of Student Accounts: 618-537-6547.

Financial Aid

Follow these steps to have your eligibility determined for all financial aid including loans:

1. Complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). You will be using the previous year's Federal Income Tax forms.

2. List McKendree University on the FAFSA. McKendree's school code is 001722. ISAC will then send you a letter indicating your eligibility for any State Aid. You may be eligible for State Aid even though you are not eligible for Federal Aid. Please file your FAFSA as soon as possible. State budget limitations at times cause funding shortages. (The reference to 'State Aid' is implied for only those students residing in Illinois.)

3. You will receive a SAR (Student Aid Report).

4. Once the student has registered for classes, McKendree's Office of Financial Aid will review your SAR to determine your eligibility. There may be additional paperwork to complete at this time. The Office of Financial Aid will notify you of what is needed. Once all documentation is received, an award letter will be prepared and sent to you.
