McKendree University Offers Nursing Degree Program to ICAHN Network
Educational Opportunities for Nurses at 53 Critical Care Hospitals in Illinois
(LEBANON, Ill., July 15, 2015) - McKendree University is partnering with the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (ICAHN) to offer online RN to BSN and MSN degree programs to nursing staff at 53 critical access hospitals. The university
and ICAHN signed an agreement recently to offer online classes to meet the needs of
critical access hospitals within the statewide network. In addition, all nurses employed
by ICAHN member hospitals are eligible for a 10 percent discount for McKendree’s RN
to BSN and MSN degree programs.
ICAHN is a not-for-profit independent network which shares resources, education, promoting
efficiency and best practice and improving health care services for critical access
hospitals and their rural communities. Member hospitals are listed online at icahn.org.
Dr. Richelle Rennegarbe, McKendree University nursing division chair and professor
of nursing, praised the new partnership as a major opportunity for nurses throughout
Illinois to advance their education and professional growth. “This partnership will
strive to ensure that rural nurses have an opportunity to achieve their RN to BSN,
as well as their graduate degree. I am proud to partner with ICAHN to reach our rural
nursing communities,” said Rennegarbe.

ICAHN executive director. “This is a wonderful opportunity to have such a quality
and affordable program available so that nurses, busy with work and families, do not
have to travel to complete their nursing degree and can do so in their own homes.
The new McKendree degree completion program will be tailored for nurses providing
care in rural communities often having to work and/or manage services in a variety
of settings.”
McKendree’s RN to BSN online is for graduates of associate degree or diploma nursing
programs who want to further their education and complete their bachelor’s degree.
The master’s program, designed for working nurses, is offered in four tracks: nurse
educator, and nurse manager-administrator.
