Band

The band is the most visible performing ensemble on the McKendree University campus. The band performs at all home football games.


Each fall, the band wraps up their season with a staged and specially lighted concert in the Hettenhausen Center for the Arts. The show highlights music and choreography performed during the season!

1. It's Fun!

College Band is NOT about preparing for competitions. It's about entertainment! Starting with your first day of band camp, you’ll be building lasting friendships with people just like you! Support the athletic teams doing what you do best and enjoy the bonding time with new friends.

2. An Opportunity to Grow as a Musician

ALL of the McKendree Music Department staff of private lessons instructors are active PROFESSIONAL musicians from the Greater St. Louis area. Our band scholarship guidelines are designed to encourage members to take advantage of this invaluable resource. Learn more about our fantastic instructors.

3. It’s Good for You!

Prevent that “Freshman 15” with an activity you enjoy! According to a recent study by V.S. Cowen, band members take an average of 13,987.8 + 4,715.7 steps on game day and 8,337.5 + 4,015.7 steps on non-game days!

4. It Pays!

Automatic $3,000 Annual Scholarships for Band and Color Guard Members (ILMEA, MMEA and TNMEA musicians of at least district level qualification will receive $5,000 for their participation.)

Band Scholarships - Up to $5,000
