Financial Responsibility

All tuition, fees, and room and board charges are due prior to the start of classes each semester. Payments may be made through Self-Service or by check made payable to McKendree University. Payment plan options are available.

The student is ultimately responsible for their student account.

Students should review their account balance regularly to ensure anticipated payments are received by the University. Students will be responsible for all unpaid balances, including:

  • charges on their student account which are not covered by the university and/or outside sources of aid. For instance, students may be sponsored for tuition and fees only, and have housing charges, for which they are responsible.

  • unpaid balances should a third-party payer, such as an employer, family member or organization, not pay completely.

  • Additional fees and charges that are not academic-related, such as maintenance and damage assessments, past due interest charges and parking fines.

  • Changes in account balance resulting from a change of circumstance.

Students with unpaid balances will have a Business Office Hold placed on their account. This hold prevents students from registering for upcoming terms, receiving official transcripts, and receiving their diploma. Additionally, the University retains the right to impose additional sanctions, revoking permission to attend class, participate in extra-curricular activities, and revocation of room and/or board privileges.

McKendree University reserves the right to refer any past due balances to collection agency. If your account is referred to collections, you will be responsible for any costs (including but not limited to collection fees) associated with attempting to collect the outstanding balance.
