How do I obtain my textbooks?


You may visit the bookstore to purchase your textbooks once you arrive on campus or you may buy your books online. This link also gives you the ISBN number for the books in case you are interested in purchasing them elsewhere.


What kind of public transportation is offered in the area?


Metro-Link is a great way to get from place-to-place in our area. The closest Metro-Link station is at Scott Air Force Base in Shiloh, IL. There is also a station at Southwestern Illinois College in Belleville, IL. The Metro-Link can take you to Busch Stadium, Union Station, the Landing, University City “Loop”, and other locations in St. Louis. The Metro-Link also offers bus services as well and they stop on campus five times throughout the day. You can purchase bus/metro tickets online or you may pay in cash for your ticket at the Metro-Link station. There are options to buy tickets for a one-way trip, all day, or monthly. Who is my academic advisor?


For first-year students, your advisor will be your University 101 instructor. For transfer students, you will be assigned an advisor within your academic division. Your academic advisor is also listed on Self-Service.


Where is the closest hospital to campus?


The closest hospitals are Memorial Hospital and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital. There is also a St. Elizabeth’s UrgiCare facility in O’Fallon, IL and Mascoutah, IL for minor injuries and illnesses. No appointments are necessary and the facility is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. For other minor injuries or illnesses, please contact the Director of Health Services for McKendree.


Where is the closest pharmacy to campus?


Prescriptions Plus is located in Lebanon, IL. The pharmacy is inside the Ace True Value store on Route 4 by McDonalds. CVS and Walgreens pharmacies are located in O’Fallon, IL.


Where is the post office?


Lebanon’s post office is located at 201 East St. Louis Street. You may also use the campus mailroom in Eisenmayer for mailing letters, buying stamps, and other general requests.


Where should I go for groceries?


Don’s IGA is located on Route 4 and carries the basic grocery essentials. For larger grocery selections, Schnucks and Wal-Mart is located in O’Fallon and Dierbergs is located in Shiloh.


Where should I go for toiletries, school supplies, and other essentials?


The quickest and most convenient option is the Dollar General Store located in Lebanon on Route 4 next to McDonalds. The Wal-Mart Supercenter in O’Fallon and Target in Shiloh are other options.


Is there a student organization for international students?


Yes, McKendree has a group called the International Student Organization (ISO) which is open to all international students enrolled at McKendree. This organization provides a social networking opportunity and allows you to meet and develop relationships with other international students on campus.
