Management Information Systems (MIS) Degree

Management Information Systems majors have coursework primarily composed of both computing and business coursework.  This degree would allow a graduate to have a firm grasp on both the Information Technology industry as well as the Business industry.  MIS majors are prepared for further education in a graduate program or for employment in positions such as:

  • Information Technology Managers

  • Systems Analysts

Why a B.S. Degree in Management Information Systems (MIS)?


Are you interested in developing an overall view of how the technology industry fits in with the business industry?  The Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems is a hybrid degree from the computing and business areas.  Utilizing a blend of these two areas of study, the degree offers a perspective that emphasizes technologies role in supporting the business, leading to effective directors of technology companies, CIO’s, and information technology managers, as well as advanced areas of study.

Housed under the Division of Computing, the B.S. in Management Information Systems is a 50/50 hybrid of the fields of computing and business to give you the core knowledge of the technology field, as well as a strong foundation in business administration. Students in this major study a variety of business-related topics, such as economics, organizational behavior, and management, while also developing their technology management skills in areas such as project management, information security, and systems analysis. You’ll gain a thorough understanding of how technology organizations can be managed, and how technology implementation can benefit the core of a business.
